The Wayne State University men's cross country team concluded its 2024 regular season with a second-place finish at the Saginaw Valley State University Red October meet. The event took place in University Center, Michigan, where SVSU secured the top spot with 22 points. Wayne State followed closely with 35 points, while Olivet and Alma scored 96 and 98 points respectively.

Coach Lofdahl expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, stating, "The guys got out and competed really well today. Adam (Hafeli) has seen massive improvement since a summer injury slowed him down, and he's ready to peak at the right time. Griffin (Conway), Andrew (Yax) and Tony (Vinson) did a great job of working together throughout the race. As a group, this was a nice way to wrap up the regular season and get some positive momentum going into the championship races."

Adam Hafeli led Wayne State's effort by finishing third overall in the 8K race with a time of 26:29.00, which placed him second in team scoring. Griffin Conway came in sixth overall at 26:42.90, followed by Andrew Yax who finished eighth overall at 26:47.10.

Anthony Vinson and Sam Martini completed the scoring for Wayne State by placing tenth (26:54.80) and fifteenth (27:55.90), respectively.

Other participants for Wayne State included Parks Allen who finished eighteenth at 28:23.90, and Aidan Lobsinger who placed twenty-second at 28:46.20.

Unattached runners Ethan Muraszewski and Ian Lewis also competed; Muraszewski placed twelfth with a time of 27:18.30 while Lewis finished fourteenth at 27:43.70.

Wayne State is set to compete next in the GLIAC Championships on October 26th in Big Rapids at Ferris State Katke Golf Course.
