Twelve members of the Wayne State University men's cross country team participated in the Cedarville Yellow Jacket Open on Saturday, accumulating 35 points to secure ninth place out of 15 teams.
In the 10K event, junior Carson Nicoletti from Shelby Township, Michigan, led the Wayne State runners with a third-place finish, clocking in at 32:06.58. Freshman Jared Platt from White Lake and graduate student Jeremy Cavallo from Davisburg also competed in this event. Platt finished fifth with a time of 32:56.08, while Cavallo secured sixth place at 33:31.78.
Two Warriors took part in the 1,500m race. Redshirt freshman Ty Nagy from Commerce Township completed the race in 4:05.09 to take sixth place, followed by freshman Ethan Pruzinsky from Troy who placed eighth with a time of 4:05.76.
Seven runners represented Wayne State in the 5K event. Freshman Brady Heron from Northville led his teammates with a fifth-place finish and a time of 15:52.44. Classmate Aidan Lobsinger from Grand Blanc came eighth at 16:05.39, and sophomore Adam Hafeli from Lake Orion was ninth with a time of 16:11.38.
Other participants included freshmen Gabe Trevino from Saginaw and Griffin Conway from Novi, finishing twelfth (16:30.46) and fifteenth (16:41.87), respectively.
Sophomores Anthony Vinson from Macomb and Jack Wallace from Ray rounded out the team's performance by finishing twenty-first (17:19.97) and twenty-second (17:30.80).
