Wayne State University's football team is set to face Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, for their final road game of the 2024 season. The Warriors aim to disrupt the Lakers' Homecoming celebrations despite a challenging record on the road, having lost five consecutive away games and 13 of their last 14 matches outside Detroit since their victory over Davenport in 2021.

Grand Valley State enters the match ranked seventh nationally by the AFCA with a 7-1 record. They hold a 3-1 record in GLIAC play, securing wins against Northern Michigan at home and victories at Davenport and Saginaw Valley State. However, they recently suffered a defeat against Ferris State in the Anchor-Bone Classic.

Scott Wooster leads Grand Valley State as head coach for his second season. He previously guided the team to an impressive 11-2 record and an NCAA Division II Playoff berth last year. Avery Moore, recognized for his performance last season, continues to lead GVSU's offense with notable passing and rushing statistics this year.

The all-time series between Wayne State and Grand Valley State began in 1975, with Wayne trailing significantly. Their most recent win against GVSU was in 2019.

XaVior Tyus has been consistent for Wayne State on the ground, while Griffin Milovanski remains reliable as a kicker, holding records within WSU history. Manny Harris shows versatility across various plays for the Warriors.

Champion Edwards stands out as a quarterback leading Wayne's rushing efforts this season. Meanwhile, Myles McKatherine contributes significantly to receiving yards and touchdowns.

Wayne State's defense shows resilience with notable fumble recoveries and defensive efforts led by players like Carl Ware and Justin Hart. Despite challenges faced throughout the season, Wayne maintains strong red zone efficiency nationally.

The upcoming match against Grand Valley presents another test for Wayne's experienced offensive line group and new talents making their collegiate debuts this season.
