Wayne State volleyball prepares to face Ferris State and Davenport

Wayne State University's volleyball team is set to face a challenging weekend as they prepare to play against Ferris State and Davenport. The Warriors, holding a 10-10 overall record and 7-3 in the GLIAC, will meet the undefeated Ferris State on Friday night at 6 p.m. and then travel to Davenport for a match on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Head coach Tim Koth expressed anticipation for the upcoming games, stating, "We're looking forward to the challenge of playing an outstanding Ferris State squad and a much-improving Davenport team. It should be a challenging weekend for the Warriors."

Kayla Giroux has been recognized as the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance, marking her third time receiving this honor in her career. Last week, Giroux achieved a .585 hitting percentage during victories over Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan.

The last encounter with Ferris State resulted in a loss for Wayne State on September 21st with scores of 21-25, 18-25, and 18-25. In that match, Wayne State managed a .273 hitting percentage with Kayla Dulgar contributing significantly with her third double-double of the season.

In their previous meeting against Davenport on September 20th, Wayne State secured a win in straight sets. Molly Miller led with 15 kills while Giroux contributed nine kills and seven blocks.

As they prepare for these matches, Wayne State's leading players include Miller with 280 kills and Giroux who has made substantial contributions both offensively and defensively.
