The Wayne State men's tennis team concluded its 2024 fall season by hosting the Second Annual Mike Kneale Memorial Doubles Tournament at the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility in Detroit. The Warriors faced off against competitors from the Findlay Oilers and the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils.

Cedric Drenth from Sulzbach, Germany, alongside George Day from Southampton, United Kingdom, emerged victorious in the main draw of the tournament. They defeated Soh Kuyama and Dallas Ramsey of Findlay in the finals. This win marked Drenth's 105th career doubles victory, setting a new record for doubles wins at Wayne State. The previous record was held by Daniel Grey with 104 wins.

Head Coach Bryan Morrow expressed satisfaction with the team's performance: "A successful day for the warriors. Cedric Drenth becoming the all-time wins leader in doubles and doing so in style. He and George (Day) just got better with every match today."

The team compiled an overall 8-5 record during the tournament. Key matches included victories by Drenth and Day over various opponents from Findlay and Lawrence Tech.

Coach Morrow also noted, "We did some mixing of teams and combinations, and as the day went on the Warriors kept getting better and better." He praised his players' improvement throughout the day despite a slow start.

This tournament marked Wayne State's last competition of the fall season. They are set to return on February 2nd to compete against Lawrence Tech once again.
