Wayne State University's women's basketball team is set to face Northwood University on Thursday, November 14th at the WSU Fieldhouse. The Warriors aim to secure their first win of the season after an 0-2 start.

The historical rivalry between Wayne State and Northwood dates back to 1980, with Wayne State leading the series 35-31. Their last encounter saw Northwood winning 84-67 in December 2023. However, Wayne State holds a strong home record against Northwood, including a victory in Detroit in December 2021.

Northwood enters the game with a split record from its opening weekend. They lost to Saginaw Valley State but bounced back with a win over Lake Superior State. Maeve St. John leads Northwood's scoring efforts, averaging 13 points per game. Coach Autumn Haggadone, now in her fourth year, has guided the Timberwolves to a respectable overall record.

Wayne State's key players include Shea Tripp and Gabi Lutchka, both recognized for their performances last season. Tripp was named to the GLIAC Women's Basketball Preseason First Team this year.

In recent games, Wayne State suffered losses against Malone and Ashland despite strong individual performances from players like Gabi Lutchka and Taylor Thompson. The team will look to improve upon these results as they prepare for their upcoming match against Northwood.
