The Wayne State University volleyball team concluded its 2024 season with a loss in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals against Michigan Tech. The match, held at the Matthaei, saw the fourth-seeded Warriors fall to the fifth-seeded Huskies after taking an initial lead by winning the first set.
Wayne State recorded a hitting percentage of .186 with 49 kills and 25 errors on 129 attacks. In contrast, Michigan Tech achieved a .280 hitting percentage with 53 kills and 18 errors on 125 attempts. The Huskies' victory marked their eighth consecutive win in GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal matches.
Michigan Tech's most effective set was the fourth, where they hit .542, while Wayne State's strongest performance came in the first set with a .500 hitting percentage. Key contributors for Wayne State included Kayla Giroux, Molly Miller, and Katie Smith, each securing 12 kills. Their respective hitting percentages were .267 for Giroux, .143 for Miller, and .231 for Smith.
Kayla Dulgar led in assists with a total of 38 and also contributed to the offense alongside Miller who added two service aces. On defense, Ella Uganski stood out with five blocks and eight kills on 19 swings without significant errors (.316). Kendyl Andrews and Maya Wegand both recorded double-digit digs with eleven each.
