Wayne State swimmers win multiple GLIAC weekly honors

Barbara Munoz, Julio Osuna, and Wen Wadsworth-Curcuru from Wayne State University's swimming and diving teams have been recognized by the GLIAC following their performances at Davenport's Don Kimble Invitational. The honors were announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Munoz received the GLIAC Swimmer of the Week award for the third time in her career and the first time this season. At the Don Kimble Invite, she won four events, three individually. She secured victories in the 200 fly (2:01.20), 200 free (1:50.15), and 400 IM (4:24.61). In addition to her individual wins, Munoz was part of the Warriors' winning 400 free relay team with a time of 3:27.13. She also placed fifth in the 1650 free (17:26.49) and contributed to second-place finishes in both the 400 medley relay (3:51.21) and the 800 free relay (7:37.81).

Osuna earned his second GLIAC Diver of the Week honor this season after winning both diving boards over the weekend, achieving scores of 609.70 at one meter and 580.50 at three meters.

Wadsworth-Curcuru also received his second GLIAC Diver of the Week distinction this season, having claimed victory on both boards with scores of 408.30 at one meter and 410.85 at three meters.

The Wayne State University swimming and diving teams will next compete against Saginaw Valley State on January 4th inside Matthaei.
