Wayne State University's men's basketball team faced a challenging game against Lewis University, concluding their November schedule with an 86-67 loss. The match took place on Tuesday evening in Romeoville, Illinois.
In the first half, Wayne State fell behind early but managed to take a brief lead thanks to contributions from Ray Williams, Jr., Kelvin Tamakloe, and Carmelo Harris. However, Lewis responded with a strong run, ending the half ahead at 35-27.
The second half saw Wayne State narrowing the gap to six points after a three-pointer by Harris. Despite their efforts, Lewis extended their lead again and maintained control for the remainder of the game.
Statistically, Wayne State shot 44 percent from the floor and connected on 10 triples out of 26 attempts. In contrast, Lewis shot 58 percent overall and made 11 triples out of 25 attempts. The Flyers capitalized on turnovers by converting them into 20 points.
Rob Lee, Jr. led Wayne State with 24 points including four triples while Carmelo Harris added another 13 points. Ray Williams, Jr. achieved a personal milestone by playing his 100th career game for WSU.
For Lewis University, Devon Vanderheydt scored a game-high of 27 points with significant contributions from Paxton Warden who added another 25 points.
Wayne State will resume play after Thanksgiving with upcoming games against Davenport and Grand Valley State as part of their GLIAC schedule.
