Wayne State University forward Shea Tripp has been recognized as the GLIAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. This marks the first time this season that Tripp has received this honor, as announced by the conference today.

Tripp achieved her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Of these rebounds, eight were on the defensive end. She also contributed five steals and two blocks during the game. Her five steals are tied for fourth place among all GLIAC players this season. A crucial blocked shot by Tripp just over a minute before halftime led to a Warrior three-pointer, narrowing their deficit to one point at halftime with a score of 31-30. Early in the third period, with Wayne State trailing 33-32, Tripp's steal set up another three-pointer that gave Wayne State its first lead at 35-33. In the fourth quarter, after tying the game at 50-50 shortly after it began, her steal and subsequent lay-up secured a lead for Wayne State that they maintained despite further ties in the game.

Wayne State is scheduled to play against Cedarville Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, December 18 at WSU Fieldhouse with an 11:00 AM tip-off.
