The Wayne State University softball team, led by head coach Nicole Tines, has announced the addition of five high school recruits and a junior college transfer to its class of 2025. This marks the fourth year for Tines as head coach.
Joining the team are Brooklyn Bunch from Almont High School, Addison Cosgrove from Troy Athens High School, Ellery Garver from Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart, Marin McCullough from Battle Creek Lakeview High School, and Ella Vinco from Riverview Community High School. Additionally, Lexi Mielke is transferring from Mid Michigan Community College.
Coach Tines expressed enthusiasm about the new recruits: "We are thrilled about our talented incoming 2025 recruiting class and the addition of each individual student athlete that we are welcoming." She highlighted their speed, power, athleticism, and contributions to team culture.
Brooklyn Bunch will be graduating in 2025 and has been a standout player at Almont High School with a .500 batting average as a sophomore. Addison Cosgrove also graduates in 2025 and has shown strong performance as a catcher at Troy Athens High School. Ellery Garver contributed significantly to her team's success at Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart with impressive batting averages over her high school career.
Marin McCullough served as captain for two years at Battle Creek Lakeview High School while earning multiple accolades for her defensive skills. Ella Vinco achieved Honorable Mention All-State recognition during her time at Riverview Community High School.
Lexi Mielke joins Wayne State after an impressive season at Mid Michigan Community College where she was named Player of the Year in her conference.
The WSU softball team's upcoming season begins on February 15-16 at the Lincoln Memorial Tournament in Tennessee. The team will feature returning players including redshirt senior Jessie O'Donnell along with seniors Lauren Fritz, Rylie Josephson, Madison Martinez, and Mady Ruczynski.
