The Wayne State University women's basketball team is set to return home for games against Parkside and Purdue Northwest. The match against the Rangers is scheduled for Thursday, January 9 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a game with Purdue Northwest on Saturday at 1 p.m. These will be the first home games of 2025 for Wayne State.

Wayne State holds an even record of 9-9 against Parkside, with a home record of 5-5. In their last encounter, Wayne State ended a three-game losing streak by defeating Parkside 66-61 on the road. Eight out of their last nine meetings have been decided by nine points or less.

The Warriors boast a strong all-time record of 13-1 against Purdue Northwest, including six wins at home. They have won the last six meetings overall against the Pride.

Parkside comes into Thursday's game with an overall record of 8-3 and is currently on a three-game winning streak. "Cassidy Arni is the leading scorer for Parkside averaging 14.5 points per game," while Sheridan Flaugler leads in assists and steals.

Purdue Northwest has compiled a record of 3-9 this season and has yet to win in GLIAC play. Alyssa Cole and Akyia Baker are both averaging "11.3 points per contest."

Wayne State has played one of the toughest schedules in Division II basketball, ranked as the 12th-toughest schedule with opponents having a combined .645 winning percentage.

In national rankings, forwards Shea Tripp and Taylor Thompson feature prominently in various categories such as double-doubles and rebounds per game. Tripp recently surpassed the milestone of scoring over "1,000 points" in her career.

In their recent outings, Wayne State split two road games—winning decisively against Lake Superior State but falling short to Ferris State.
