The Wayne State University women's basketball team is set to travel to Michigan's Upper Peninsula for upcoming games against Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. The Warriors will face Northern Michigan on January 16 at 5:30 PM, followed by a match against Michigan Tech on January 18 at noon. Wayne State has won eight of its last twelve games.

In their history with Northern Michigan, Wayne State trails with a record of 27-38 and has a challenging 12-21 record in Marquette. The Wildcats have claimed victory in the last three meetings, including last season's GLIAC Quarterfinals, which ended 51-48.

Against Michigan Tech, Wayne State trails significantly with an all-time series record of 21-48 and holds a poor performance in Houghton at 9-26. The Warriors have only one win in the past nine encounters, achieved on December 9, 2023.

Northern Michigan enters this matchup following consecutive victories over Michigan Tech and Roosevelt, holding an overall season record of 11-3. Their conference play stands at 5-1, with their sole loss being to Grand Valley State. Jacy Weisbrod leads NMU's scoring efforts with an average of 15.5 points per game.

Michigan Tech holds a current overall record of 5-9 and is struggling in the GLIAC with a scoreline of 2-4. Isabella Lenz spearheads MTU’s offensive play with an average of 15.5 points per game.

Wayne State has been recognized for playing one of the toughest schedules in Division II basketball this season and maintains a strong national presence thanks to players like Shea Tripp and Taylor Thompson who rank among the top fifty in various statistical categories.

Last week saw several Warriors achieving career-highs during games against Parkside and Purdue Northwest. Shea Tripp notably became the twentieth player in program history to surpass the milestone of scoring over one thousand career points.

Wayne State managed to split their recent home matches; they fell short against Parkside but secured a decisive victory over Purdue Northwest.

The team's upcoming matches can be watched through FloSports as part of GLIAC's broadcasting agreement or listened to via WSUAthletics.com for audio coverage provided by Kevin Brechmacher.
