Wayne State women's track team opens season at Findlay Alumni Classic

The Wayne State University women's indoor track and field team is set to begin its 2025 schedule at the Findlay Alumni Classic this Friday. The event will take place at the Robert A. Malcolm Athletic Center, located within the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex in Findlay, Ohio. Field events are scheduled to start at 2 p.m., with running events commencing at 5 p.m.

Field events will kick off with the high jump and shot put, followed by the long jump at 3:30 p.m. The weight throw is slated for 5 p.m., with the triple jump occurring afterward.

In running events, women will compete before men in each category. The lineup begins with the 60m dash preliminaries, followed by the 60m hurdles prelims, mile run, finals for both 60m dash and hurdles, then progresses through various distances including a concluding Distance Medley Relay.

Over thirty Wayne State student-athletes are expected to participate on Friday. Each event's tentative list includes athletes along with school indoor records for reference.

Some notable entries include Hanne Bastiaansen in both the 60m Dash (School Record - 7.48) and the 200m (School Record - 24.84), Jessica Denver in the 600m (School Record - 1:38.92), Annalise Elliott in the Mile (School Record - 4:58.23), Natalie Davies in the 3,000m (School Record -9:50.57), among others.

The team will next compete on January 24th at the GVSU Bill Clinger Invite held at Kelly Family Sports Center starting from 1 p.m.
