Wayne State athletes achieve high academic performance in Fall 2024

The student-athletes at Wayne State University have demonstrated exceptional academic performance during the Fall 2024 semester. A record number of eighty-four athletes achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA, while nearly 78% of the Warriors' athletes scored above a 3.00 GPA. The overall term GPA for the student-athlete population was recorded at 3.38, with a cumulative GPA of 3.449 for all student-athletes.

Significantly, almost 79% of the university's 395 student-athletes in the fall term maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, and nearly 53% had a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.

Among the teams, men's tennis achieved the highest term GPA with an average of 3.795, followed by women's swimming/diving with a GPA of 3.77 and women's cross country at 3.733.

"Warrior student-athletes continue to raise the bar!" exclaimed WSU Director of Athletics Erika Wallace. "This semester showcases our commitment to academic excellence and leadership development. Thank you to our incredible student-athletes, coaches, and Student Support Services team for embracing a vision that goes beyond sport. Together, we're building a legacy of success in the classroom and beyond."

The Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognizes those with a term GPA of 3.5 or higher across various sports disciplines including baseball, basketball, cross country, fencing, football, golf, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and volleyball.
