The Wayne State University women's indoor track and field team is set to participate in two different competitions this weekend. The squad will be divided, with one group traveling to the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational at the University of Louisville, and the other heading to the Saginaw Valley State Jet's Pizza Invitational. Both events are scheduled for Friday, January 31, and Saturday, February 1.
Athletes representing Wayne State at the Louisville meet include Elyse Miller and Avery Wilson in the 60m Dash. Hanne Bastiaansen and Rachel Overgaard will compete in the 200m Dash. The 800m Run will feature Robin Bresolin, Rachel Felstow, and Anna Gdowski. Participants in the Mile event include Bresolin, Felstow, Gdowski, Emily Gordon, Taylor Hopkins, and Reagan Justice. Justice will also compete in the 3,000m event.
Makenzie Wellner and Megan Zahnow are set to take part in the 60m Hurdles. The team for the 4x400m Relay includes Miller, Wilson, Wellner, and Renae Kutcha with Overgaard as an alternate. The Distance Medley Relay team comprises Hopkins, Miller, Felstow, and Gordon with Justice and Wilson as alternates. Olivia Findlay will represent Wayne State in the High Jump.
The group competing at SVSU includes Iyana Coates, Emmanuela Johnson, and Lauren Wooten in the 60m Dash. Coates will also participate in the 200m Dash alongside Alex Harmer, Johnson, and Wooten. Tianna Bennett is entered in the 400m Dash.
Annalise Elliott and Meagan Verellen will run in the 800m event. Natalie Davies leads a contingent including Jessica Denver, Layla Martini, and Aubrey Migoski for the Mile race. Sarah Greb and Emilee Rudlaff are set for the 3,000m race while Mattie Drennan and Annalee Misch will compete in the 5,000m event.
In hurdles competition at SVSU is Harmer participating in the 60m Hurdles. Ava Steinhebel competes in High Jump while Nicole Warren takes on Triple Jump duties. Makayla Stewart joins Ania Toboy for Shot Put events; both athletes also enter Weight Throw contests.
Following these meets, Wayne State plans to return to University Center on Saturday, February 8th for participation in the W-C-W (Warriors-Cardinals-Wildcats) Invitational hosted by SVSU.
