Wayne State University's men's tennis team is preparing for a busy weekend with three matches on the road. The team will travel to Cleveland, Ohio, on February 14 to compete against Case Western Reserve University and the University of Northwestern Ohio. Following these matches, Wayne State will head to Toledo, Ohio, for a game against the University of Toledo on February 16.
The team returns after a narrow 4-3 victory at the University of Indianapolis last weekend.
In their match against Case Western Reserve on Friday, February 14, Wayne State will face a strong opponent ranked #4 in Division III. This matchup is scheduled to begin at noon at the Carlton Courts. The teams last met during the 2022-23 spring season when Wayne State secured a 5-2 win over then #2-ranked Spartans.
Later that day, Wayne State will take on Northwestern Ohio at 6:00 PM. The Racers are currently ranked #8 in NAIA and have won their last three matches, holding an overall record of 3-1 before facing WSU. In their previous encounter in February 2023, Cedric Drenth played a pivotal role in Wayne State's victories in both singles and doubles competitions.
Concluding their weekend tour, Wayne State will play against Toledo at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts. Toledo has experienced recent challenges with a current record of 2-4 after losing its last three games. This match marks WSU's second visit to Toledo this season following their participation in the Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational hosted by the Rockets during fall.
