Wayne State University's women's basketball team faced a narrow defeat against Roosevelt University, ending the game with a score of 66-62. This result places Wayne State in fifth position in the GLIAC standings, trailing Parkside and Ferris State by one game for the final two home court spots. Grand Valley State and Northern Michigan lead the league standings.

The game began with Wayne State taking an early lead but struggling to maintain it. Despite a strong start, they ended the first quarter just two points ahead after Roosevelt's rally. The second quarter saw Wayne State regain momentum with a 14-0 run led by Shea Tripp, who scored nine points during this period. However, Roosevelt closed the gap again before halftime.

In the third quarter, Wayne State's lead was challenged as Roosevelt took control towards the end of the period. The fourth quarter was tightly contested, with both teams exchanging leads. Luka Malinka's four-point play extended Roosevelt's advantage, but Wayne State fought back to tie the game at 62-62 with under two minutes remaining. Ultimately, missed opportunities allowed Roosevelt to secure victory.

Wayne State shot 40 percent from the floor and struggled from beyond the arc, converting only one of their thirteen attempts. They held advantages in points in the paint and rebounding but were hindered by turnovers.

Shea Tripp led Wayne State with a career-high 29 points and eight rebounds. Taylor Thompson recorded a double-double with ten points and thirteen rebounds. Alyssa Leister contributed seven assists and four steals.

For Roosevelt, Luka Malinka scored fifteen points while Marie Outlay added thirteen points along with nine steals and seven rebounds.

Wayne State will continue their season on Thursday against Grand Valley State followed by a game at Davenport on Saturday.
