The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team concluded the first day of the 2025 GLIAC Championships in third place. The event took place in Holland, Michigan, with eight teams competing. Wayne State accumulated 166 points, trailing Northern Michigan by just half a point for the second position. Grand Valley State led the standings with 209.5 points.
The preliminary events on Thursday will start at 10 a.m.
The team standings after day one are as follows: Grand Valley State is in first place with 209.5 points, followed by Northern Michigan with 166.5 points. Wayne State holds third place with 166 points, St. Cloud State is fourth with 128 points, Saginaw Valley State has 91 points in fifth place, Davenport is sixth with 70 points, Augustana has secured seventh place with 59 points, and Lake Superior State is eighth with three points.
In the relay events, Wayne State's team of Olin Charnstrom, Joey Dombkowski, Josh Mahaney, and Tomas Osorio finished fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:27.85, achieving an NCAA B Cut.
In individual performances, William Debroux placed second in the 1000 free with a time of 9:08.35 (NCAA B Cut). Trevor Jones was fifth at 9:16.34 (NCAA B Cut), Khalil Ben Ajmia sixth at 9:22.91 (NCAA B Cut), Harrison Arnold seventh at 9:23.52 (NCAA B Cut), and Nicholas Slater finished twenty-fourth at 9:49.83.
Clayton Kinnard took second place in the 200 IM clocking in at 1:47.37 (NCAA B Cut), while Olin Charnstrom was third at 1:47.71 (NCAA B Cut). Lorenzo Tassinari came eighth at 1:48.88 (NCAA B Cut), Gabriel Arias thirteenth at 1:50.43 (NCAA B Cut), and Alex Duhaime sixteenth at 1:52.05.
In the sprint event of the day, Tomas Osorio finished tenth in the 50 free with a time of 20.43 (NCAA B Cut).
Finally, Wayne State's team composed of Leland Curanovic, Lorenzo Tassinari, Lochlain Hart, and Clayton Kinnard secured seventh place in the 200 free relay finishing in a time of 1:22.98.
