The Wayne State University women's indoor track and field team concluded its regular season at the SVSU Tune-Up in University Center, Michigan. The event took place on Friday, with the team focusing on enhancing their intensity and focus ahead of the GLIAC Championships.

Coach Lofdahl emphasized the team's preparation: "We talked before the meet about raising our level of intensity and focus, and not waiting for the GLIAC meet and then hoping we can do that. The team did an exceptional job of bringing attention to detail, competitiveness, and positive energy to the Tune-Up, and we came away with some great performances."

Several freshmen stood out during the competition. Ania Toboy set a personal record in shot put by surpassing 11 meters and then exceeding 12 meters for the first time. Ava Steinhebel achieved a new personal record in high jump, securing a win. Megan Zahnow broke nine seconds for the first time in the 60 hurdles.

Reagan Justice narrowly missed setting another school record in the mile with a time of 4:57. Taylor Hopkins also finished under five minutes for her first time. Annalee Misch set a personal record in the mile, while Natalie Davies did so in the 3K race.

Sasha-Gay Thompson won both the 200- and 60-meter dashes, just shy of her personal records. Rachel Felstow secured a dramatic win with a personal best in the 800-meter race. Annalise Elliott set a significant personal record as well.

Lofdahl expressed optimism about future performances: "We can't wait to get this group back to the SVSU track next weekend. They're capable of doing tremendous things at the GLIAC Championships."

Wayne State is scheduled to compete at Saginaw Valley State on March 1-2 for the GLIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
