The Wayne State University women's basketball team has secured an at-large bid to the NCAA Division 2 tournament for the 2024-25 season. The team, which holds a 19-11 overall record, is seeded fourth and will compete against Lewis University, the No. 5 seed with a 26-3 record, this Friday in Allendale. Grand Valley State University (GVSU), holding the top seed with a 32-2 record, will host the regional competition and face Quincy University.
Other teams in the Midwest Regional include Ashland University as the second seed, Northern Michigan University as the third seed, Hillsdale College as the sixth seed, and Ferris State University as the seventh seed. Ashland University recently claimed its fourth consecutive Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament championship by defeating Hillsdale College.
Wayne State is making its sixth appearance in the NCAA tournament and its fifth in thirteen years. Notable past performances include reaching the Regional Championship game in both 2013 and 2014. The Warriors' last NCAA tournament appearance was in 2022 when they were defeated by Grand Valley.
