Wayne State falls to No. 18 Minnesota State with a 6-1 defeat

Wayne State University's baseball team faced a 6-1 defeat against the 18th-ranked Minnesota State in Davenport, Florida. This marks the second consecutive loss for Wayne State against Minnesota State. The Warriors, with an overall record of 6-9, will take a break on Thursday before competing against Minnesota Duluth in a doubleheader scheduled for Friday.

The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning when Minnesota State scored two runs and added more in the sixth inning. Wayne State managed to get on the scoreboard in the seventh inning with Jacoby Dale's RBI groundout that brought Reagan Paulina home from third base. However, this was their only scoring opportunity as Minnesota State added two more runs in the eighth inning.

Bennett Hitzelberger stood out for Wayne State, going 3-for-4 at bat, marking his seventh multi-hit game of the season and fifth in six games. Over these six games, Hitzelberger has maintained a batting average of .609.

Gavin Nash started for Wayne State and took the loss, bringing his record to 1-2. Nash pitched six innings allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits without any walks and struck out four batters. In relief, Carson Tehan pitched a scoreless seventh inning while Ethan Getting handled pitching duties in the eighth.
