Wayne State University's senior, Emily Gordon, has been honored with the USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region recognition for her performance in the 800m run during the 2024-25 indoor track and field season. This accolade is awarded to athletes who have one of the top five times in their respective regions.
Gordon's notable performance includes a second-place finish at the GLIAC Championships, clocking a time of 2:11.00. Her personal best for the season was recorded at the GVSU Big Meet-Friday on February 14, where she achieved a time of 2:09.54. During this meet, she competed against NCAA Division 1 athletes from Marquette, Eastern Michigan, and Bowling Green, as well as Division 2 runners from Dallas Baptist, CSU-Pueblo, Findlay, and Grand Valley State.
Other top performers in the Midwest Region include Alaysia Brooks from Ursuline with a leading time of 2:08.58, followed by Kylie Ray from Findlay at 2:08.80. Ashland's Jade Avance secured third place with a time of 2:08.83, while GVSU's Lilly Alberts finished fourth at 2:09.09.
Emily Gordon stands as Wayne State University's sole qualifier for the upcoming NCAA Division 2 Indoor Track and Field meet taking place in Indianapolis. She is scheduled to compete in her preliminary heat for the 800m run on March 14 at 2:30 p.m., with potential finals set for March 15 at 4 p.m.
