On Sunday, the Wayne State University men's golf team claimed victory at the Ashland Spring Invitational in Ashland, Ohio, marking their sixth "A" Team win of the 2024-25 season. The 26th-ranked Warriors scored a total of 854 (-10), finishing nine strokes ahead of Missouri S&T. This result comes shortly after the Miners outperformed Wayne State by four shots at the Findlay Spring Invite five days prior.

Head coach Mike Horn expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance: "What an outstanding performance for everybody," he said. "I am almost speechless and am in awe on how the boys are playing. Congratulations to Josh on his second career win and to Tyler Hurtubise for finishing third at four under."

Josh DiCarlo, from Amherstburg, Ontario, earned medalist honors with a score of 208 (-8). This is his second career victory, the first being at the BrownGolf Intercollegiate on March 12, 2022. DiCarlo matched his career-low score for 54 holes with this win.

Other notable performers from Wayne State included Tyler Hurtubise, who finished third with a score of 212 (-4), and Max Leppelmeier, who tied for sixth. The team's "B" Team also showed strong individual performances, contributing to Wayne State's overall success.

The final team standings showed Wayne State in first place, followed by Missouri S&T and Ashland. Wayne State's "B" Team took fourth place.

The Warriors will next compete in UIndy's Ken Partridge Invitational from April 6-8 at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana. Last season, Wayne State finished fourth out of 18 teams in the same event.
