Redshirt sophomore Caleb Sanders of Wayne State University has been accorded the title of GLIAC Player of the Week for the first time in his career. This announcement was made by the league office on Monday.

Sanders' performance last week saw him achieve a batting average of .600 (9-for-15) and an impressive 1.617 OPS by accumulating a .684 on-base percentage and a .933 slugging percentage over five games. During this period, he delivered two consecutive three-hit performances against Roosevelt on Saturday and Sunday.

In his recent outings, Sanders managed to score six runs, hit three doubles, and one triple. His statistics further include two RBIs, 14 total bases, two walks, two times hit by pitches, one strikeout, two sacrifice hits, and three stolen bases in three attempts. Sanders is currently enjoying a six-game hitting streak that has increased his season batting average from .235 to .314.

On Tuesday, Sanders and Wayne State will play against Findlay, stepping away from league play with the game scheduled for a 3 p.m. start. The Oilers previously secured a narrow 4-3 victory over Wayne State at Harwell Field.
