The Wayne State University men’s golf team has achieved a ranking of third in the NCAA’s Midwest Region, as per the latest rankings issued Friday. The team, also known as the Green & Gold, has one more regular season tournament ahead — the Motor City Meltdown, scheduled for Monday, April 14 at TPC Michigan, Dearborn.

Regional competitions will involve 80 teams and 32 individuals. These competitions will be held at four regional sites where two regions will combine for tournaments. The regional pairings include Atlantic-East, South-Southeast, Midwest-Central, and South Central-West. Announcements regarding these selections are expected on Friday, April 25.

From each region, ten teams along with the top four individuals not associated with a team will proceed to one of the four 54-hole regional tournaments. The minimum qualifying criteria for finals advancement include the top three teams and top two individuals from each regional tournament. A total of eight team berths will be decided based on the previous year's head-to-head medal play results during the championships. Team champions and finals advancement will be determined through tiebreakers and playoffs.

In the 2025 championships, the regional finals berths are distributed as follows: the South/Southeast will have seven berths; Midwest/Central will have four; West/South Central will have six; and Atlantic/East will have three.

During the finals, all 20 teams and eight individuals will compete across 54 holes of stroke play. An individual champion, along with positions two through ten, will be determined based on cumulative scores and tiebreakers. The top eight teams will enter a bracket and be seeded based on the stroke play results. Quarterfinal pairings will follow a progression from Seed #1 against Seed #8 to Seed #4 against Seed #5 in head-to-head medal play.
