Wayne State women's track completes busy weekend with notable performances

Wayne State University's women's outdoor track and field team concluded a busy weekend with competition at the Oakland University Elaine Leigh Invitational. Highlights included Olivia Findlay's first-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m, the second-best in the program's history. Catalla Jones also made an impact in the 100m dash by securing a place in the all-time top 10.

In the 100m dash, Jones finished 4th with a time of 12.27 seconds. Other notable performances included Tianna Bennett in 15th place with a time of 12.74 seconds, and Emmanuela Johnson in 16th with 12.75 seconds.

During the 200m dash, Jones placed 8th with a time of 26.01 seconds, followed closely by Renae Kutcha in 9th place at 26.12 seconds. Jones, Johnson, Bennett, and Lauren Wooten teamed up for the 4x100m relay, finishing 4th with a combined time of 48.21 seconds.

Renae Kutcha performed well in the 400m dash with a time of 57.72 seconds, securing 3rd place, and improved her top-10 distance in the triple jump, placing 2nd with a mark of 10.61m.

Next, the team will participate in the Hillsdale Outdoor Tune-Up on April 25th, as their final preparations before the GLIAC Championships set for April 30-May 2.
