DETROIT — Trevor Jones, a graduate student from Wayne State University's men's swimming and diving team, has been named a First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), previously known as CoSIDA. This recognition makes Jones the third three-time recipient in the university's history, following a Second Team distinction in the 2022-23 academic year and First Team honors the previous year.

Jones, who completed his bachelor's degree in Finance in two-and-a-half years, began his MBA in January 2024. He maintained a GPA above 3.5 every semester, earning Athletic Director's Honor Roll seven times, including five terms with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He has received the GLIAC Commissioner's Award twice and is a three-time CSCAA First Team Scholar All-American, with the 2024-25 announcement pending. This summer, he is expected to earn his third GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team selection and a third D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award.

In his athletic career, Jones achieved 11-time All-American honors, including three First Team Relays: the 200 Free Relay and the 800 Free Relay. He earned Second Team certificates in two individual events, the 400 IM and the 1650 Free, and six relays. He has also received seven All-GLIAC certificates.

The CSC Academic All-America program, established in 1952, honors college athletes excelling academically and athletically. The program has recognized over 40,000 student-athletes across various sports. CSC, responsible for the nominations and voting, offers the award to elite performers in several sports categories and other championship sports through the At-Large program.

Wayne State University has a history of Academic All-Americans, with Jones joining Elly Maleski in Women's Swimming and Ransome Allen in Men's Cross Country as three-time recipients.

About the CSC Academic All-America Program: Since 1952, the Academic All-America program has recognized student-athletes for their achievements. Teams are announced throughout the year and publicized through various CSC-affiliated institutions and platforms. Academic All-American status is extended in multiple sports and includes a single At-Large program for the College Division.
