Wayne State University's women's track and field team is scheduled to compete this Friday at the Hillsdale Tune-Up, marking their final regular-season meet. A diverse group of athletes will represent WSU, eager to showcase their skills across various disciplines.
The 100m dash team consists of Tianna Bennett, Iyana Coates, Emmanuela Johnson, Catalla Jones, Elyse Miller, Rachel Overgaard, Avery Wilson, and Lauren Wooten. For the 200m dash, Hanne Bastiaansen will join Bennett, Coates, Johnson, Renae Kutcha, and Wooten. Bennett will also run in the 400m dash, while Jessica Denver and Meagan Verellen take on the 800m run. Paige McArdle will compete in the 1,500m run.
Natalie Davies and Reagan Justice will participate in the 5,000m run. The 100m hurdles line-up includes Keneisha Thomas, Makenzie Wellner, and Megan Zahnow, with Wellner also in the 400m hurdles. The 4x100m relay team features Jones, Wilson, Miller, Overgaard, and Bastiaansen.
In field events, the high jump participants are Olivia Findlay, Gracie Klink, and Ava Steinhebel. Findlay, Steinhebel, and Nicole Warren will compete in the long jump, while Kutcha takes on the triple jump. Idalia Shadhaya will compete in the shot put, with Shadhaya and Ania Toboy in the javelin.
Looking ahead, Wayne State is preparing for the 2025 GLIAC Outdoor Championships at Grand Valley State. The competition begins for WSU on Thursday, May 1, as no Warriors will participate in the Pentathlon.
