Leading up to the semifinals, Wayne State secured a third-place finish in stroke play with a team score of 611. Notable performances came from Sabel Imesch and Claudia Portillo, each tying for eighth with scores of 152.
During the medal match play semifinals, Wayne State's Orianna Bylsma and Sophia Wygonik both won their matchups, while Claudia Portillo tied with Kamryn Shannon of Ferris State. However, Ferris State's Susie Gietl and Lizzie Anderson gained a decisive edge in their respective matches, contributing to their team's victory.
Looking forward, Wayne State awaits the NCAA Selection Show on April 28 to learn its fate for the regional competitions. The team was ranked 10th in the East Region in the most-recent rankings. The NCAA regional tournaments comprise 18 teams and six individuals not affiliated with these teams, competing across four regional tournaments. The top teams from each region will advance to the finals.
The finals will have all 18 teams and additional individuals compete over 54 holes of stroke play. The championship will declare an individual champion and top finishers based on cumulative scores. The leading eight teams will then proceed to medal match play to determine the ultimate champion.
