In the first game, Davenport secured an early lead, scoring three runs across the third and fourth innings. Wayne State made efforts to catch up, with Jacoby Dale scoring on a balk in the fifth inning. The game ended with a score of 4-2 after another run by Davenport in the sixth. Gabe Nazelli received the loss, allowing five hits and three runs, two of which were earned, over three and two-thirds innings. Nick Baker finished the game for Wayne State, allowing one unearned run in his tenure.
Game two mirrored the earlier match, with Davenport scoring three runs across the first and second innings. Wayne State responded with scores in the second and fourth innings, narrowing the gap to 5-3 after runs by Tony Hatzigeorgiou and Drew Dawson. However, Davenport reinforced their lead with additional runs, closing the game at 12-3. Macio Miller recorded the loss, conceding six hits and five runs in just over two innings. Relief pitchers Coy Plummer and TJ McAllister finished the game for Wayne State, allowing seven runs combined.
The Warriors look to improve as they prepare to play Purdue Northwest, with the game scheduled for Tuesday at 4 p.m. Eastern Time.
