Wayne State sixth after first day of GLIAC Track Championships

Wayne State University's women's outdoor track and field team concluded the first full day of competition at the 2025 GLIAC Championships at the GVSU Outdoor Track and Field Stadium in Allendale, Michigan. After the day's events, Wayne State held the sixth position among 11 schools with 17 points.

The host team, the Lakers, led with 64 points, while Northern Michigan secured second place with 51 points. Saginaw Valley State, Parkside, Davenport, Purdue Northwest, Ferris State, Michigan Tech, Lake Superior State, and Roosevelt followed in the standings.

Senior Reagan Justice achieved a notable accomplishment by winning the 10,000-meter race for the third consecutive year, securing 10 points for Wayne State. The squad saw 17 of its athletes qualify for the finals scheduled on Friday.

Other performances included Aubrey Migoski and Paige McArdle in the 1,500m prelims, Keneisha Thomas and Megan Zahnow in the 100m hurdles prelims, Renae Kutcha and Avery Wilson in the 400m dash, and Elyse Miller and Catalla Jones in the 100m dash prelims.

Keneisha Thomas set a school record in the 400m hurdles prelims with a time of 1:02.08. Anna Gdowski and Rachel Felstow advanced in the 800m run prelims, while Taylor Hopkins and Sarah Greb competed in the 3,000m steeplechase final.

In field events, Annabelle Smith placed seventh in the long jump, while Ania Toboy secured eighth place in the hammer throw, each contributing points to the team's score.

The championships will conclude with the final events scheduled for Friday.
