The Wayne State University baseball team secured a key win against Parkside on Senior Day with a convincing 12-2 victory in eight innings in Detroit. This win enabled the Warriors to clinch the three seed for the upcoming GLIAC Tournament in Lansing, where they will again face Parkside in the opening round.

The match initially saw Parkside take the lead with two runs in the third inning. However, Wayne State responded robustly, leveling the score in the same inning, and later overwhelming their opponent with multiple runs across the subsequent innings. A notable surge came from Wayne State in the seventh inning, which added six runs to their tally, and the team finished with a win through effective play.

Among the Wayne State batters, Caleb Sanders and Jacoby Dale were instrumental, both driving in three runs. Sanders notably performed impressively at bat, with three hits from three at-bats, including two doubles, contributing significantly to the team's success. Teammates Reagan Paulina, Mason McGuire, Ty Garza, and Tony Hatzigeorgiou also contributed to the score with one RBI each.

Wayne State University's pitching staff performed well, curbing Parkside’s scoring attempts across the innings. Keegan Pulford-Thorpe began, completing four and two-thirds innings, marking the longest duration he has pitched in his career. Following Pulford-Thorpe, Coy Plummer achieved his first career victory by retiring seven batters. Phoenix Guzzi closed the game effectively, striking out all three batters he faced in the eighth inning.

The game's significance was heightened by its timing on Senior Day, a moment to honor several Warriors, including Miles Jamieson, Phoenix Guzzi, and others, for their contributions to the team.
