Wayne State women's golf ranks seventh after first round at NCAA East Regional

The Wayne State University women's golf team completed the first round of the NCAA East Regional in Allendale, Michigan, placing seventh among 18 teams. The Warriors finished with a score of 315 (+27) at Grand Valley State's The Meadows Golf Course. They are set to continue their efforts in the second round on Tuesday afternoon.

Among individual performances, Ting-Yu Kuo from Taipei is tied for eighth place with a score of 74 (+2). Sabel Imesch and Claudia Portillo both scored 80 (+8), tying them for 41st place. Orianna Bylsma and Sophia Wygonik each carded an 81 (+9), placing them in a tie for 50th.

In the team standings, Grand Valley State leads with a score of 290 (+2), followed by Findlay at 296 (+8). Tiffin and UIndy are tied for third with scores of 306 (+18). Missouri-St. Louis holds fifth place at 312 (+24).

The tournament format allows the top five squads from the East and West regionals to advance to the national finals, along with low four teams from Central and South regionals. Additionally, two individuals not on advancing teams will also move forward. Tiebreakers will determine any necessary advancements.
