The Wayne State University women's tennis team, holding the top seed, is set to host a section of the NCAA Midwest Regional at the WSU Tennis Courts. The event will see No. 4-seeded Tiffin University and No. 5-seeded Ferris State University compete against each other on May 12. The victor will then face Wayne State on May 13.

Wayne State benefits from a first-round bye due to the Midwest Regional's seven-team selection. They aim to advance past the regional round for a third consecutive year, having reached the NCAA Quarterfinals in the previous two seasons.

Tiffin University enters the tournament with a strong 19-6 record and an eight-match winning streak. They recently secured the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament title by defeating Findlay University 4-2. Notable players include sophomore Jemimah Choi, who earned G-MAC Player of the Year honors, along with Emily Barrett and Anaelle Lepinay receiving all-conference recognition. Phil Conley, in his 16th season as head coach, has been named G-MAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year seven times and has led Tiffin to its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

Ferris State University previously faced Wayne State during the regular season, resulting in a 7-0 win for Wayne State on their senior day. Ferris State holds a 12-8 record ahead of their match with Tiffin and has six student-athletes honored with All-GLIAC selections: Ana Sofia Hernandez, Yara Madi, Kennedy Dumas, Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer, Aimee Reynoso, and Katherine Earnest. Head coach Mark Doren is in his seventh season with FSU and has guided them to a 79-58 overall record and their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
