The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its 2024-25 men's golf postseason awards, recognizing six players from Wayne State University. Andrew Daily from Brighton, Michigan, received the Men's Freshman of the Year award, marking the first time a player from the program has won this accolade since Brendan Seys in 2016-17.
Josh DiCarlo of Amherstburg, Ontario, and Max Leppelmeier from Wauseon, Ohio, were named to the First Team. Tyler Hurtubise from Essex, Ontario, and Luc Warnock of McGregor, Ontario, earned Second Team honors. Daily was also included on the Honorable Mention Team alongside Ian Smith from Canton, Michigan.
DiCarlo concluded his career with a standout season. He moved up to the First Team after three years on the Second Team. DiCarlo led Wayne State in several categories including scoring average (71.59), tournaments played (tied-for-first), rounds (32), top 10 finishes (eight), top 25 placings (10), rounds in the 60s (seven), and rounds below par (15). His scoring average ranks as the third-best in program history for those who played at least ten rounds.
Leppelmeier finished his season with a scoring average of 72.17, placing fourth in program history. He participated in 11 tournaments and achieved six top-10 finishes. Leppelmeier won Ohio Dominican's Pawleys Island Beach Bash among other notable performances.
Hurtubise had a breakthrough final season with a career-best scoring average of 73.28 over 29 rounds across 11 tournaments. His achievements included four top-10 finishes and earning GLIAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors for his performance at Wayne State's Motor City Shakedown.
Warnock transferred from Northern Illinois and quickly made an impact with Wayne State by achieving a scoring average of 73.13 through 30 rounds over 12 events. He played a key role in helping Wayne State secure its first GLIAC Championship since 2003.
Smith joined DiCarlo and Warnock as one of only three Warriors to participate in all but one tournament during the season while maintaining a scoring average of 74.23 over 30 rounds.
Daily completed his freshman year with a scoring average of 74.4 across ten tournaments that included three top-10 finishes and six within the top-25 bracket.
