Josh DiCarlo and Max Leppelmeier from Wayne State University's men's golf team have been recognized with PING All-Region honors by the Golf Coaches Association of America. This announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon.
DiCarlo concluded his career with a standout individual season in 2024-25, adding this accolade to his First Team All-GLIAC recognition. He led Wayne State in various categories including scoring average (71.59), tournaments played, rounds (32), top 10 finishes (eight), top 25 placings (10), rounds in the 60s (seven), and rounds below par (15). His scoring average of 71.59 is the third-best in program history for players with over ten rounds played. Additionally, DiCarlo has other notable positions on this list, being tenth and thirteenth for previous seasons. He placed lower than fifth only four times out of twelve events during the season, with these occurrences happening during the GLIAC Championship and NCAA Midwest/Central Super Regional tournaments. These were considered among his toughest competitions. DiCarlo also won two tournaments: the Ashland Spring Invite and Motor City Meltdown, becoming only the tenth player at Wayne State to win three or more events since Seys achieved this feat in 2017.
Leppelmeier was named First Team All-GLIAC in 2023 and received an Honorable Mention in 2024. For the 2024-25 season, he achieved a scoring average of 72.17, which ranks as the fourth-best output in program history, closely following DiCarlo's performance. He also holds a ninth-best mark from a previous season at 72.59 from 2022-23. Throughout his time at Wayne State, Leppelmeier participated in eleven tournaments, securing six top-ten finishes and nine within the top twenty-five over twenty-nine rounds with five rounds in the sixties and eleven under par overall. He became a multi-time champion after winning Ohio Dominican's Pawleys Island Beach Bash held March 12-13.
