Wayne State softball players receive academic honors from College Sports Communicators

Four student-athletes from Wayne State University's 2025 softball team have been recognized for their academic and athletic achievements. The College Sports Communicators (CSC), previously known as CoSIDA, honored these athletes with Academic All-District recognition.

Junior pitcher Grace Fisher, sophomore catcher Logan Forman, sophomore pitcher Sydney Long, and senior outfielder Mady Ruczynski were acknowledged for their performances both on the field and in the classroom.

Grace Fisher made 29 appearances as a pitcher, starting 19 games. She had notable performances including a three-hit shutout against Kentucky Wesleyan and a season-high seven strikeouts in a win at Roosevelt-2. Fisher's efforts resulted in an overall record of 9-9 as a starter with a 3.91 ERA. Academically, she is majoring in Exercise & Sport Science with a GPA of 3.80.

Logan Forman was the only Wayne State player to advance to the All-American ballot and played in all 56 games of the season. She led her team in several categories such as slugging percentage (.671) and home runs (11). Forman maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.75 while pursuing Exercise & Sport Science.

Sydney Long appeared in 28 games as a pitcher, leading her team in strikeouts per game (4.79) and other pitching metrics. Her academic pursuit is in Sport Management with a GPA of 3.75.

Mady Ruczynski started all her games as an outfielder and achieved multiple-hit games throughout the season. She will graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering holding a cumulative GPA of 3.568.

The CSC Academic All-District teams honor student-athletes for their combined achievements on the field and academically across various divisions including NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA.

Academic All-District honorees are eligible for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot where first-, second-, and third-team honorees will be announced on June 17, 2025.
