Eight student-athletes from Wayne State University's men's basketball team have been awarded GLIAC All-Academic honors for the 2024-25 season. This marks a tie for the program's highest number of recipients in the past 23 years.
The criteria for this recognition require that the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season and not a freshman or first-year transfer student. The grade-point averages considered are calculated through the fall semester, which was the last grading period before the season concluded.
Three players were named to the All-Academic Excellence Team, which requires a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0. Adam Ayrault, a redshirt freshman from Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, majoring in Management, achieved a GPA of 3.61. Jordan Briggs, a sophomore from Muskegon, Michigan, studying Marketing, earned a GPA of 3.68. Bryce Esman, a junior from Metamora, Michigan, also in Marketing, attained a GPA of 3.89.
Five players were selected for the All-Academic Team with GPAs ranging from 3.0 to 3.49. Kareem Aburashed, Rob Lee Jr., Eli Lohr, Chris Mutebi Jr., and Ray Williams Jr., all demonstrated strong academic performance alongside their athletic commitments.
Briggs was additionally recognized as a CSC Academic All-District selection while Williams Jr., received GLIAC All-Defensive Team honors.
