Wayne State University athletes receive academic all-district honors

Five student-athletes from Wayne State University's women's cross country and track & field team have been honored with Academic All-District recognition by College Sports Communicators. This award acknowledges both academic and athletic achievements.

The athletes receiving this honor are junior Hanne Bastiaansen, senior Reagan Justice, senior Renae Kutcha, senior Makenzie Wellner, and junior Avery Wilson. These athletes have met the criteria for individual performance rankings in NCAA regional competitions and maintained a minimum 3.50 GPA.

Bastiaansen, a Management major with a 3.87 GPA, excelled in the 200m dash at both the GLIAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. She has consistently been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Justice graduated with a degree in Early & Elementary Education and a 3.58 GPA. She participated in two NCAA Championships and set multiple school records during her tenure.

Kutcha, who graduated with a Marketing degree and a 3.55 GPA, performed well in the 400m dash and triple jump at the GLIAC Championships.

Wellner earned her Nursing degree with a 3.83 GPA while contributing to relay teams at GLIAC events.

Wilson, maintaining a 3.97 GPA in Nutrition and Food Science, showed strong performances in the 400m dash across indoor and outdoor championships.

These athletes have demonstrated their dedication to both academics and athletics throughout their college careers.
