Wayne State University's volleyball team has strengthened its roster with the addition of Paige Giehtbrock, a transfer from Rider University. The announcement was made by head coach Tim Koth. Giehtbrock, an outside hitter from Clarkston, Michigan, joins the team with two years of eligibility remaining.
Giehtbrock's achievements at Rider include being named to the CSC Academic All-District Team and receiving MAAC All-Academic Team honors in 2024. She also earned Second Team All-MAAC recognition and was titled Jersey Mike's MAAC Player of the Week on October 9 after a strong performance that included 48 kills and a .315 hitting percentage over three matches.
In her freshman year in 2023, Giehtbrock was part of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Rookie and All-Academic Teams. She received Molten MAAC Rookie of the Week honors on November 7 for her notable performance in two matches.
Giehtbrock graduated from Clarkston High School where she played varsity volleyball for four years and received Honorable Mention All-State honors in 2022. She served as team captain and helped lead her high school team to third-place finishes during her sophomore and senior years.
Coach Tim Koth expressed enthusiasm about Giehtbrock joining Wayne State: "Adding Paige was a big addition to the roster. She is a solid six rotation outside with high level experience that will add another element to our outside group. In addition, she is an outstanding student and person that we believe will add to our team culture as well as our on-court performance."
Giehtbrock plans to major in Health Sciences at Wayne State University.
