Over the next few weeks, Wayne State University will be previewing each position on its 2025 football team. The series begins with a look at the quarterbacks, guided by new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach J.C McDonald and former Warrior Brady Beedon.
The 2025 quarterback lineup for the Warriors includes two returning players, two true freshmen, and three transfers. Junior Champion Edwards returns after participating in nine games last season, starting seven times. He was the first WSU player since 1975 to lead in both rushing yards (570) and passing yards (899), earning him Honorable Mention All-GLIAC recognition.
Redshirt sophomore Justin Cox has played five games over two seasons, completing 63 percent of his passes for 455 yards and four touchdowns.
New to the team are freshmen Dylan Kress from Aurora, Ontario, and Seth Sendry from Flat Rock, Michigan. Kress was recognized as the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year for CISAA and MVP of the Provincial All-Star Game. Sendry contributed to a state title win for Detroit Cass Tech.
The transfers include Carson Creehan from Madison, Alabama; Tydre Malone from Jonesboro, Louisiana; and Braden Siri from American Fork, Utah. Creehan played at Coffeyville Community College before an injury ended his season. Malone spent time at Southern Shreveport Junior College and Grambling State. Siri played for Ventura Community College before transferring to Golden West Community College.
Wayne State's fall practice starts on August 11th, with players reporting earlier that weekend. The team's home opener is scheduled for September 4th against Tiffin Dragons.
