Wayne State University’s football team has been ranked sixth in the 2025 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Coaches Preseason Poll, according to an announcement from the conference.
In the poll, Ferris State received six of seven possible first-place votes and led with 47 points. Grand Valley State followed in second place, earning one first-place vote and 41 points. Saginaw Valley State was third with one first-place vote and 38 points, while Davenport (31 points) and Michigan Tech (28 points) were also ahead of Wayne State, which finished with 16 points. Roosevelt and Northern Michigan were at the bottom of the poll with 12 and 11 points respectively.
With coaches not allowed to vote for their own teams, the results reflect peer assessments across the conference.
The Warriors’ schedule for 2025 includes four non-conference games in September before starting a seven-game GLIAC regular season. The team will open its season at home against Tiffin on September 4th, then travel to Findlay on September 13th. Wayne State will play its first football game in Wisconsin since November 4, 1972, when it faces Wisconsin-La Crosse on September 20th. The following week features a home matchup against Quincy, marking their first-ever meeting.
GLIAC competition begins for Wayne State with its annual Homecoming game against Michigan Tech. The team will then visit Ferris State on October 11th before hosting Davenport at Tom Adams Field on October 18th. An away game at Saginaw Valley State closes out October.
In November, Wayne State wraps up its season with a home finale against Grand Valley State on November 1st, followed by consecutive road games at Roosevelt (November 8th) and Northern Michigan (November 15th).
