Wayne State University’s Cross Country and Track & Field program held its fifth annual Run-A-Thon on August 3, 2025. The event was led by head coach Grant Lofdahl and involved student-athletes, coaches, and other athletics teammates running, biking, and hiking more than 750 miles this year.

Since the event began, over 200 participants including student-athletes, coaches, and administrators have contributed to a total of more than 2,700 miles covered through various activities. The initiative has raised over $80,000 since it started. These funds have supported key program needs such as uniforms and travel expenses for competitions.

This year’s campaign is focused on covering competition costs for both cross country teams as well as the indoor and outdoor track & field squads. The campaign remains open until Sunday, August 10. Organizers are aiming to reach a fundraising goal of $20,000.

"Funds raised during the 2025 event campaign will be directed towards competition costs (food, travel, lodging, etc.) for both cross country squads, plus the indoor and outdoor track & field teams."

"To date, more than $80,000 has been raised since the event's inception. Money raised in the past has been used towards vital program needs such as uniforms, cross country camp and competition travel costs."

The Run-A-Thon continues to serve as an important source of support for Wayne State’s Cross Country and Track & Field athletes.
