Wayne State University’s baseball program will host a Prospect Camp on Saturday, October 11, at Harwell Field and the Doris J. & Donald L. Duchene, Sr. Athletic Facility in Detroit. The camp is open to high school students graduating between 2026 and 2029, as well as junior college players.
Check-in for the event begins at 9:00 AM, with the showcase starting at 9:30 AM. Pitcher-only check-in times will be provided before the camp date.
According to head coach Ryan Kelley, "This camp will present the opportunity to showcase your skills and receive instruction directly from the Wayne State University coaching staff and student-athletes. In addition, each camper will receive their showcase metrics." He added that "the showcase will include game simulation evaluation along with enhanced showcase curriculum and an extended batting practice. There will also be a campus tour during the day."
Camp staff will collect data throughout the event and share it with participants after the camp ends. The afternoon session includes live action where campers can demonstrate their abilities in a competitive environment. All pitchers are scheduled to throw one inning while every hitter is expected to have at least two at-bats, with additional chances to play defense. Other college baseball programs have been invited to attend.
The cost for attending varies by position: $125 for two-way players, $100 for position players, and $75 for pitchers.
Participants are required to bring cleats, baseball pants, hats, all necessary equipment, and a water bottle. Each attendee will receive a t-shirt and lunch during the day. Family members or guests accompanying participants can use available seating or standing room areas.
All campers must print and complete two required forms and bring them to the event.
