Wayne State University's baseball program will hold its sixth annual Home Run Derby Fundraiser at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers, on Tuesday, September 23. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., and entry is free for all spectators through Meijer Gate D.

The derby features teams with a designated hitter who will attempt to hit as many home runs as possible within a 60-second window. For every $25 pledged to a team, that team's hitter receives an additional two seconds at bat.

Funds raised from the event will support the Wayne State University baseball team's priorities. Teams that raise the most money and record the highest number of home runs will receive special rewards.

"All proceeds will go directly to the Wayne State University baseball team to assist with team priorities. In addition, the team of players that raises the most money and has the most home runs will earn special team rewards," organizers stated in the announcement.

Supporters have contributed over $132,000 since the event's inception. Annual totals include $16,979 in 2020, $20,255 in 2021, $18,661 in 2022, more than $32,000 in 2023, and $44,969 last fall.

Donations can be made online or by contacting WSU athletics Development Director Carter Lotz via email or phone.
