Wayne State University's baseball program has added three transfer pitchers to its roster for the upcoming season. Head coach Ryan Kelley, now in his 18th year leading the team, announced the signings of right-handed pitcher Will Lowery, left-handed pitcher Philip Miller, and right-handed pitcher Jack Saputo.

Will Lowery comes from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Over two seasons at KVCC, he contributed to a record-setting 57 wins for the program. In 2025, Lowery posted a 4.79 ERA across 47 innings with 39 strikeouts and a 6-4 record in 13 appearances. The previous year, he made 14 appearances and achieved a complete game while striking out 55 batters in 46.1 innings. Lowery is a Grosse Ile High School graduate where he earned several honors including All-Huron League and All-District recognition.

Philip Miller transfers after stints at both Schoolcraft Community College and Tusculum University. At Tusculum in 2025, Miller started all 13 games he pitched, compiling a 2-6 record with a 5.76 ERA over nearly 60 innings and earning South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors on March 26 for his performance against Mars Hill. In his time at Schoolcraft C.C., Miller struck out more than one batter per inning and was recognized as MCCAA Eastern Conference Pitcher of the Week during his freshman season.

Jack Saputo joins Wayne State from Macomb Community College where he made an impact as a reliever. In the most recent season, Saputo allowed only one earned run over more than 28 innings for a minuscule ERA of 0.32 while striking out 41 batters and holding opponents to a .124 batting average without allowing any extra-base hits. He was named to the NJCAA Division II All-Region XII Team as well as First Team All-MCCAA Eastern Conference.

Coach Kelley expressed enthusiasm about these additions to the pitching staff as preparations continue for the new season.
