Kyle Hill, a former standout pitcher for the Wayne State Warriors baseball team, will be inducted into the Wayne State Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, October 3 at The Eastern. Hill played for the Warriors from 2004 to 2007 and contributed to 105 overall wins and 68 conference victories during his collegiate career.

Hill was recognized as a First Team All-GLIAC pitcher and an ABCA/Rawling All-Region First Team selection in 2005. That year, he helped lead Wayne State to its first GLIAC regular-season title and the program’s inaugural NCAA tournament appearance.

He earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors in both 2004 and 2007. In addition, Hill was named WSU's Top Pitcher in both 2004 and 2005, sharing the award with Anthony Bass in his senior season.

At the time of his graduation, Hill’s record of 24 career wins matched the school mark—a record that stood for nearly two decades. He led or tied for the team lead in wins during each of his first three seasons. As a senior, he finished third in the GLIAC with a 2.52 ERA.

Hill’s single-season achievements include tying for fifth-most starts (13) and third-most victories (nine) in school history during the 2005 season. His eight complete games as a senior also ranked him among program leaders.

Upon completing his college career, Hill held top strikeout-to-walk ratios for both single seasons and across his career (3.60), recording 173 strikeouts against just 48 walks. His record of 45 career starts remained unbroken for seventeen years, while his total of twenty complete games is still tied-for-second all-time at Wayne State. He also ranked second in innings pitched with over 271 frames.

One highlight from Hill’s time at Wayne State was throwing a complete-game no-hitter against Mercyhurst—his first collegiate win.

Off the field, Hill was recognized three times on the GLIAC All-Academic Team. He completed a bachelor’s degree in English in 2008 and went on to earn a master’s degree in Teaching Secondary Education by 2010. During his academic tenure, he appeared on the Academic Honor Roll every semester and achieved five terms on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a GPA above 3.5.

The induction ceremony will honor six individuals this year as part of Wayne State University’s ongoing recognition of athletic achievement.
