The Wayne State University men's golf team is tied for fourth place after the first round of the Folds of Honor Challenge in Allendale, Michigan. The Warriors posted a team score of 296, which is 12-over par, in an 11-team field. They are four strokes behind second place, while Grand Valley State leads with a one-under 283.

Head coach Mike Horn commented on the team's performance: "The Warriors battled through tough windy conditions and a golf course that firmed up quite a bit throughout the last 24 hours," said Horn. "We did not have our best stuff today, but found a way to keep grinding and we are very excited to be in fourth place after not our best effort. We're hoping to make significant movement tomorrow and looking forward to getting out on the course early tomorrow morning with fresh greens and lower winds. Hats off to all the guys that grinded it out with a 74 today."

Four Wayne State golfers—Will Pollack, Josh Lahner, Troy Chapman, and Andrew Daily—are part of a group tied for 15th individually at three over par (74). Jack Julian sits tied for 54th at eleven over par (82) among the field of 62 competitors.

The standings after one round are as follows: Grand Valley State leads at 283 (-1), followed by Odessa College at 292 (+8), Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at 294 (+10), and Wayne State sharing fourth position with Dallas Baptist and Aurora at 296 (+12). Other teams include Indianapolis and Findlay tied for seventh at +21, Parkland ninth at +30, Lawrence Tech tenth at +34, and Grand Rapids Community College eleventh at +35.

Round two will begin Tuesday morning with tee times starting from 8 a.m., when Jack Julian will start for Wayne State. He will be followed by Will Pollack (8:10 a.m.), Josh Lahner (8:20 a.m.), Troy Chapman (8:30 a.m.), and Andrew Daily (8:40 a.m.).
