The Wayne State University men's golf team improved its position during the second day of the Folds of Honor Challenge at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Michigan. On Tuesday, the Warriors posted a score of 281, which was 15 strokes better than their first round and brought their two-day total to 577 (+9). This result places Wayne State in a tie for second place with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, trailing Grand Valley State by five strokes.
Head coach Mike Horn commented on the team's performance: "Really proud of the boys today! Excellent play from Andrew (Daily) and Will (Pollack) and really solid play from the rest of the guys, including an even par from Josh (Lahner) and Troy (Chapman). We put ourselves in a position to contend tomorrow and looking forward to really getting after it early and trying to put some pressure on Grand Valley. We will really have to concentrate on holes six and seven tomorrow. Those two holes hurt us in the first two rounds."
Among individual competitors out of 62 golfers, Andrew Daily is tied for sixth with a score of 143 (+1), while Will Pollack stands tied for tenth at 144 (+2). Both Josh Lahner and Troy Chapman are tied for fourteenth at 145 (+3), and Jack Julian is tied for forty-seventh at 156 (+14).
In team standings after two rounds, Grand Valley State leads with a score of 572 (+4), followed by Wayne State and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at 577 (+9). Odessa College and Aurora are both tied for fourth place with scores of 583 (+15).
The final round will take place Wednesday, beginning at 12:20 p.m., with each Warrior scheduled to tee off between 1:20 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
